A favourite of students and city workers alike, Udon Yasan is an incredibly quick and cheap noodle shop located on Bourke Street. Being located close to Melbourne's RMIT University means that Udon Yasan attracts many students, however anybody in the city looking for a quick and cheap meal will often dine here.

Fried items and payment
Udon Yasan is not for those that are looking for a great dining experience with good service. The main selling point of the restaurant is the speed and price of the food, which they do well. After deciding what to order, the noodles are prepared and given to you, then you move on to the fried items and sides station to pick what you want and then you move along to the counter and pay for your meal.
Udon with dipping soup
Tempura squid and karaage
The food was surprisingly tasty for the price what they charge for it, I ended up spending less than $10 for the entire meal, which included a small dish of udon, and two sides I picked which were a piece of karaage and tempura squid. The udon was served cold with a dipping soup, the noodles were nice and firm and the dip was flavoured well. The fried items were very tender and still crispy even though they had been sitting under the heat lamp.
Udon Yasan doesn't have lots of fancy food or attentive service, but they do exactly what they advertise, and they do it well.
