Jang Go Mama
147 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne
Jang go mama is a small and cute Korean restaurant that recently opened on Lonsdale street. It resembles a small and cosy cafe more than a Korean eatery due to the bright colours and decor and would find it hard to seat over 15 people.
Tiny restaurant
When we ducked in here on a cold night to have a quick bite to eat as well as to avoid the rain, the Korean home style dishes they served left us nice and warm.
Bright interior
Seafood pancake $15.00
Ddeokbokki $15.00
The seafood pancake was one of the better pancakes that I have had in Melbourne. I have noticed that some restaurants either have a nice crispy pancake or a decent amount of filling, however the seafood pancake at Jang go mama was both fried well, so the outside was very crispy and had a decent amount of seafood in the filling. The ddeokbokki had a good flavour and the rice cakes were soft, but I personally would have liked both a slightly bigger portion for the cost and for it to be a little spicier.
Although we originally came here just to have a small bite to eat while we avoided the rain, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. Combined with the atmosphere the small and bright decor creates this warmed us up on a cold night out.
